The American Singer canary was first bred in the early thirties by eight Boston women. In 1942, the American Singer club was formed and formally adopted the standard for the American Singer. Todays American Singers are based on that standard. This standard is based on a heritage of two-thirds Roller bloodline and one-third Border Fancy. It is also the only breed to evolve in the USA.
